Arsenic and Old Lace

Director: Frank Capra
Year Released: 1944
Rating: 1.5

Unremarkable "screwball" "comedy" that's more the former and less the latter. Cary Grant and Bellamy make googly-eyes for the camera, the mood is uneven - it goes from black comedy to mock horror in a flash - and the effect, after two hours, is positively annoying. Grant said it's the least favorite of his performances, bothered by the 'overacting.' That pretty much sums it all up.
