Financial analyst (and part-time podcaster) Ezra (Jonah Hill) has a chance encounter with costume designer Amira (Lauren London) - he mistakes her for his Uber driver - and they go on a few dates and fall in love ... but when it's time for them to meet each other's parents - his are played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny, hers by Eddie Murphy and Nia Long - major problems arise.  It's a "socially progressive" re-do of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner with Hill (who co-wrote the script with director Barris) throwing in some decent one-liners and although it does touch on the subject of animosity between the African-American and Jewish communities (both Kanye West and Kyrie Irving got into trouble for making antisemitic comments), the story is cringe-inducing and an embarrassment for everyone involved, as Murphy's "angry" father does everything possible to belittle his future son-in-law while Louis-Dreyfus' matriarch gets unfairly smacked around for trying to be sympathetic.  It almost acts like being a mixed-race couple is an "impossibility" in these current times ... and yet a simple walk through my own little town shows that's not even remotely the case.  If this movie were a Drake album, it would be Honestly, Nevermind.
