Romy and Michele's High School Reunion

Director: David Mirkin
Year Released: 1997
Rating: 1.0

Codependent airheads Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow) are told by their former classmate Heather (Janeane Garofalo) - who created quick burning cigarette paper - about their high school's tenth year reunion in their hometown of Tucson, so they decide to go and "pretend" they're more successful than they actually are by claiming they invented the Post-It Note (which is quickly debunked and they're humiliated).  This wasn't the teensiest bit entertaining back in '97 and still isn't today (I'm writing this in November of 2022): it's become a "cult classic" over the years but I never understood how the main characters were considered outcasts when Sorvino and Kudrow aren't exactly hurting in the Looks Department and the "message," about being happy with yourself and wherever you are in life, earns an exhausted eyeroll.  It's clear how it was modeled after 1995's Clueless (with Alicia Silverstone) ... but lacks Amy Heckerling's wit and empathy.
