True Stories

Director: David Byrne
Year Released: 1986
Rating: 2.5

Byrne acts as his own narrator (as well as director and screenwriter) in this po-mo vanity piece, which is as empty and soulless as the landscape he's redundantly satirizing (clothes made of grass?). Gets credit for being so very weird - the Talking Heads, for those that remember, were 'the' preeminent art-rock outfit for a while (I suppose Radiohead has taken over the mantle for now) - and for some inspired lighting and cinematography, but, like with Stop Making Sense, I'd actively encourage you to seek out the soundtrack and leave the actual film alone (as a matter of fact, I have a copy of it in my car, along with a plethora of other Heads albums).
