A Safe Place

Director: Henry Jaglom
Year Released: 1971
Rating: 0.0

In this irritating jigsaw puzzle of a narrative, a feeble-minded lady (Tuesday Weld) mentally flashes back and forth between her past and present, confusing herself and the audience in the process. Naturally chatty Jaglom has his 'characters' muttering fragments of stories to each other, few of which make much sense; you know something's wrong when even the great Orson Welles - here to perform some magic tricks - can't pull a better movie out of his bag of wonders. Jaglom was presumably influenced by Godard and Cassavetes, except both were considerably better filmmakers.
