Fantasia

A visual and audio feast - Disney and his animators provide images to correspond with some of the great pieces of classical music to create one of the most unique, colorful and avant-garde of all of the early pictures. Some bits are obviously (and quite dramatically) better than others; the real stand-out sections involve Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice, the dancing hippos battling hungry alligators, and the finale: evil incarnate eradicated by peace and harmony. Fantasia is both lovingly done and daring; Disney, unlike modern-day producers, used his creativity (and funds) to create new forms of cinema. If that isn't pure "vision," I'm at a loss.
