Triumph of the Will

Director: Leni Riefenstahl
Year Released: 1935
Rating: 0.0

Famous propaganda film by Riefenstahl about Hitler's Nazi "pep rallies." Technically, it's brilliant, and her cameras seem to be everywhere they need to be. But on a moral level (and a general film-going one), it's also (understandably) repellant and dull - you will, if you know anything about history, find the brainwashing speeches by Adolf and his men tiresome and the German people disturbingly conformist (it's tough not to hold everyone in the film in complete contempt). Highly relevant on a sociological and historical level, but that's about it - it's basically two hours of soldiers marching in perfect unison to droning fanfare and countless close-ups of beaming, proud faces.
