The Iceman Cometh

Director: Clarence Fok Yiu-leung
Year Released: 1989
Rating: 1.0

Martial arts / comedy / fantasy / drama combo about two warriors from the Ming Dynasty who are frozen and thawed out hundreds of years later, only to renew their feud. The action in the last half-hour is well-edited and choreographed, but the cornball acting and fish out of water gags (drinking toilet water! what is this tele-vis-ion?) are juvenile. Reminiscent - at least for me - of the film Time After Time which had H.G. Wells pursuing Jack the Ripper through time, suggesting that individuals that are good or evil would be the same exact same way no matter what era they existed in - but aside from that point, it's quite unremarkable. If you were expecting to find a group of Asian drunks in a bar waiting for a salesman to arrive, you're out of luck.
