Cloud (2024) review

Yoshii (Masaki Suda), a garment worker, has a side gig that involves reselling items (at an extreme markup) on the 'net, so when he makes a bunch of money doing that, he quits his day job, moves with his girlfriend Akiko (Kotone Furukawa) to a remote location to expand his operations and hires Sano (Daiken Okudaira) as his assistant ... but the individuals he's scammed (and even his former employer) band together to track him down.  Kurosawa (not Akira) has been known to put his own spin on traditional genre material and this is no different, except it doesn't help much that Yoshii's unscrupulous and deliberately unlikeable, the hitmen are dolts and Sano possesses the skills of John Wick.  The "warning" about not ripping customers off should be clear after only a few minutes in, but why did everyone else in it - including flaky Akiko - have to be so reprehensible?  Or maybe we live in such rough economic times there are no more heroes, and you need to do whatever you can to prosper (and risk damnation)?
