The Wrecking Crew (2026) review

Navy SEAL instructor James Hale (Dave Bautista) reunites with his boozed-up brother Jonny Hale (Jason Momoa), a police officer, following the murder of their father, and then the two of them partner up to figure out who killed him, which leads to them being attacked by members of the Yakuza, led by Nakamura (Miyavi), and then finding out financier Marcus Robichaux (Claes Bang) has something to do with it.  Although some viewers may not be big fans of former wrestler Bautista and burly Momoa, I think they each do a good job filling in the "tough guy" roles, but the direction is weak and the screenplay (with its preference for "Dad rock") is pedestrian, as it's surprisingly skimpy with the action sequences (and those that are in there are borrowed from other movies, including Oldboy) and contains as much terrible dialogue as a Steven Seagal vehicle from the 1990's.  It isn't much of a "detective" movie either, since the duo could probably be outwitted by Pikachu any day of the week.
