Due to a scheduling mix-up at the Palmetto Inn, the planned June 1st weddings for Jenni (Geraldine Viswanathan) and Oliver (Stony Blyden) as well as Neve (Meredith Hagner) and Dixon (Jimmy Tatro) get double-booked, so Jenni's widowed father Jim (Will Ferrell) and Neve's sister Margot (Reese Witherspoon) initially agree to "share" the space, but shenanigans transpire and the two of them start trying to sabotage each other's plans.  Bringing together Will and Reese as the leads isn't the worst decision, but not with a screenplay this pedestrian: the open-ended structure left a lot of room for comedic creativity, but it resorts to visual gags like a collapsing deck, a hand-made cake getting smooshed, Jim wrestling with an alligator and sprinkling in some curse words for a light R-rating.  All it can muster for a "moral" is to back off from being an overprotective dad/sibling and let everyone make the best decisions for themselves (and support them if they fail), which I've also seen in more than one sitcom ... and those run roughly twenty-two minutes an episode.
