Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Director: Jeff Fowler
Year Released: 2024
Rating: 1.5

Team Sonic, consisting of the famous blue hedgehog (voiced by Ben Schwartz), fox Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and echidna Knuckles (Idris Elba), is asked by Director Rockwell (Krysten Ritter) of G.U.N. (Guardian Units of Nations) to stop experimental weapon Shadow (Keanu Reeves) from destroying Tokyo - later, the gang temporarily partners up with Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Jim Carrey), he betrays them and reunites with his long-lost grandfather Gerald (Carrey again) who wants to blow up the planet with a spider-like spaceship.  All the chatter about "trauma" and whatnot is pretty corny (Shadow craves revenge for the death of his friend Maria, Ivo doesn't have loved ones, etc.) and Sonic's "witty remarks" thud hard (he's inarguably the least interesting character in his own series), but Carrey clearly has a field day playing two characters (wait for the moment when he spanks himself) and the last third is fairly exciting and should appease its target audience (which is mostly kids and adults who wish they still were).  If these Sega-approved movie-games continue to improve, by the time they get to Sonic 15 it'll inevitably land on several end-of-year top ten lists.
