Sisters Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Paxton (Chloe East), both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, visit the home of Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant) who claims he's interested in joining their organization, but it turns out he actually wants to play a cruel game with them in which he tests their intelligence and faith. A small amount of praise should be given to this for not settling for jump scares and easy tricks and at least attempting to engage the mind: Reed's "lectures" about finding the "one true religion" and discrediting the others (Christianity, Islam and Judaism) are intriguing (if factually questionable) and the ladies are appropriately terrified, although it crumbles apart the longer it carries on and doesn't hold up to the slightest inspection (is the LDS so popular they don't care if they're missing multiple people?). The real reason to watch it is to relish Grant playing very against type as the conniving villain who constructed a literal house of horrors and thoughtfully hoses down captured missionaries with a mist as if they're plants.
