Tumbling Doll of Flesh (1998) review

A director (Anaru, as "himself") hires two actors, Kana (Kanako Ooba) and Kiku (Kikurin), to make a "BDSM movie" which starts with Kiku buying Oreo cookies from a food mart to getting tied up, then knocked out and chopped into bits (her tongue is also shaved with a potato peeler).  If the goal of this (like Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh and Blood in the '80s) was to simulate a snuff film, I have to say it more or less accomplishes that: the censored genitalia and camcorder footage give it that "raw appearance," and seeing a twitching body hacked apart is admittedly unnerving.  However, that's all it is - a dark, nihilistic void ("It's just pain.  There is no pleasure") completely drained of anything good and with absolutely no point to it so if you find yourself enjoying Cymbalta a little too much, this might help bring the sad back.
