Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics

Director: Donick Cary
Year Released: 2020
Rating: 2.0

Cary gathers together several celebrities - including artist Shepard Fairey, Sting, Carrie Fisher, Ben Stiller and Deepak Chopra - to talk about their experiences taking all sorts of psychedelic drugs: some talk about having fun, others about having frighteningly "bad" trips.  Generally speaking, I dislike movies that are both pro-drug (Pineapple Express, How High) and anti-drug (Reefer Madness) because I'm aware - having lost several friends and former students to them (and seen some go absolutely batty) - that you're playing a risky game with them, and this tends to lean towards the Pro side of the argument, "animating" the celebs' hallucinations and interviewing a professor who thinks they could be useful in a controlled setting by trained professionals.  That later point is the key: if you just encourage people to start Tuning In without knowing what they're doing, it could get ugly.
