Battle Beyond the Sun

Director: Mikhail Karzhukov, Aleksandr Kozyr and Francis Ford Coppola
Year Released: 1959
Rating: 0.5

As the story goes, the Soviet film Nebo Zovyot was bought by Roger Corman, who handed it to a then-unknown Francis Ford Coppola to "Americanize," and the result is this: a terribly dubbed sci-fi story about astronauts on a trip to Mars that discover a giant vagina dentata and a blob with a tentacle eye fighting it out (or something to that effect).  Not only is it deadly dull despite running just over an hour, but it's also incoherent - I've never seen the original (and have zero intention of doing so) but it I'm guessing it has to make a little more sense than this.  It's hard to think of any positives, but I suppose the effects aren't too bad considering the year it was released (Tom Servo and Crow, on the other hand, would have a field day ripping it apart).
