They Cloned Tyrone

Director: Juel Taylor
Year Released: 2023
Rating: 0.5

Drug dealer Fontaine (John Boyega), pimp Slick Charles (Jamie Foxx) and prostitute Yo-Yo (Teyonah Parris) stumble upon a trap house that just so happens to have high-tech equipment and chemicals inside - later, they come to realize there's a facility underneath their neighborhood (called "The Glen") where scientists are conducting experiments on the black community.  Ironically, it's something of a Get Out replica/knock-off that isn't sure what time period it exists in (CRT monitors and mentions of blockchain?) and can't decide on a genre to stick with, since the mix of blaxploitation and comedy and sci-fi doesn't gel at all (although there are a few passable one-liners in there).  It also leaves a lot of questions that don't get addressed: why would researchers work on cloning the "dregs" of society and not some of the brightest minds of African descent, like Cornel West, Malcolm Gladwell, Ketanji Brown Jackson or Angela Davis?  How about another Mr. Spike Lee?  Can we manufacture Obama 2.0?
