Inferno

Director: Dario Argento
Year Released: 1980
Rating: 2.0

Eccentric little ditty from horror maven Argento about ... well, I don't know. In what has to be one of the most confusing plots I have ever encountered comes what may be one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen, showcasing Argento's schizophrenic style, which is an all-consuming obsession with visualization and utter indifference to storytelling matters such as character identification and narrative coherence (the picture bounces around without consideration for human psychology or plausibility, using only dream logic to proceed onward). The result may very well be a great mystical film - I will grant that this requires many viewings - but on my first try I was simultaneously astounded and puzzled to the point of frustration.
