The USS Enterprise folk - Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Bones (Karl Urban) and so on - get attacked by an alien warship (led by the ever-reliable Idris Elba), have to escape a foreign planet and return back to their home base to stop an invasion. I personally find it curious that Simon Pegg (who plays Scotty) contributed to the screenplay since much of his past written work (often with Edgar Wright) at least tried to be imaginative and clever while this is dreadfully unoriginal, doing the whole CGI set-piece jump-around (plus, many of the contrivances used are supremely lazy). The computer crew that programmed a lot of this worked harder on it than anyone else.
