A Letter to Momo

Director: Hiroyuki Okiura
Year Released: 2011
Rating: 1.5

After her father passes away unexpectedly, Momo and her mother leave Tokyo to reside in a more desolate location in order to rebuild their lives ... but soon discover three Goblin-type creatures (Kawa, Mame and Iwa) have been following along. It's impossible to not see this as a sub-par facsimile of a Miyazaki movie (especially Spirited Away) crossed with old fashioned Dad Issues, in which the Paranormal Entities rush to aid the young lady for a sense of closure with Pop and to patch up her relationship with Mom. It feels like it runs at half-speed whenever the colorful Goblins aren't wrecking havoc and stealing food.
