The Loft

Director: Erik Van Looy
Year Released: 2014
Rating: 1.5

Five buddies (Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Eric Stonestreet and Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts) privately pay for a separate apartment to cheat on their wives with (and do drugs in) but it backfires when a blonde is found murdered on the bed and they all start accusing each other of committing the crime. What starts as a decent mystery becomes flooded with umpteen red herrings, shouting matches and inexplicable turns of events: all five male leads are ultimately deplorable, and the third act, which is supposed to explain the motivation behind the killing, only makes things muddier. The moral about how one should not commit adultery is clear ... it's too bad little else is.
