The Town That Dreaded Sundown

Director: Charles B. Pierce
Year Released: 1976
Rating: 0.0

Straight out of the Samuel Z. Arkoff "factory" of rubbish comes this very loosely 'based on a true story' 'horror' film about a masked murderer who targets horny teens (are there any other kind?) while horribly inept law enforcement figures (including Ben Johnson, collecting a pay check) struggle to find him. As if Pierce doesn't have a difficult enough time to make this watchable as a filmmaker (and egad, what heinous voice-over), he also has himself on screen as Patrolman Benson, the film's sole attempt at 'comic relief' (go, Spark Plug, go!). It does feature the only death-by-trombone-knife scene I can think of in cinema, so there's one fleeting, idiotic moment of creativity....
