Rancho Notorious

Director: Fritz Lang
Year Released: 1952
Rating: 2.5

A young man's fiancé is killed in a robbery and her killer gets away, leading him (Arthur Kennedy) to seek revenge. Heavily contrived Western is pretty frills-free - nothing out of the ordinary - with a decent performance as Marlene Dietrich, who (obviously) no one can resist. The chorus gets irritating, with the theme song playing entirely too often; runs out of energy way before the typical closing shootout. Tolerable, but still nowhere near the exemplary work Lang did back in Germany.
