Road to Nowhere

Director: Monte Hellman
Year Released: 2010
Rating: 0.5

This is Monte Hellman's first feature in twenty-one years ... and he should have stayed retired. A filmmaker (Tygh Runyan) starts making a movie about a woman who scammed millions from the state of North Carolina in some kind of scandal and faked her own death; the 'movie' version stars Shannyn Sossamon, who - it's suggested - may be the actual woman who committed the crime 'in real life.' Or something like that. Each scene plays out as if the characters ingested copious amounts of ADHD medication and are dreaming of being cast in a more coherent movie - meanwhile, Hellman directs each scene like he has all the time in the world and not a place to go. At least he got the title right.
