The Woman in Black

Director: James Watkins
Year Released: 2012
Rating: 2.0

A widowed solicitor (Daniel Radcliffe) ventures to a spooky haunted house in the middle of nowhere to assess the property, only to find that the title spectre is roaming around the place; meanwhile, back in town, kids keep killing themselves. While I like the whole angle on spirituality (it's best not to mess with the dead), basically this is Radcliffe Walking Around from Spooky Room to Spooky Room for ninety minutes, while the picture accumulates the maximum possible number of Boo Moments (aaah! she's at the window! aaah! she's in the woods!), neglecting to fill in plot holes or bother with explanations. The ending is kind of nasty, but it's also a little glib.
