Two comic fans (Nick Frost and Simon Pegg) go to the Comic-Con in L.A., encounter a real-life alien (voiced by Seth Rogan) and end up on the run from The Law. It really isn't much of a "satire" exactly and rather weak as a road movie and only so-so as comedy - Kristen Wiig isn't given a lot to work with - so it really exists as a kind of homage to Spielberg's E.T. and Close Encounters and as apathetic 'fan service' for sci-fi fans. It's a lazy man's movie, and Frost and Pegg are basically going through the motions, and for all the interest in the Cosmos and Intelligent Life (who burp and fart and smoke), it's rather openly (and curiously) atheist.
