Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Director: Carlos Saldanha and Mike Thurmeier
Year Released: 2009
Rating: 1.0

A painful dose of family values. Ellie (Queen Latifah) and Manny (Ray Romano) - the wooly mammoths - are about to have a baby together and daft Sid (John Leguizamo) adopts three tiny baby dinosaurs while aging-and-slowing-down Diego (Denis Leary) contemplates bachelorhood and solitude. Before you know it, it switches to Video Game Format, with a variety of levels, boss monsters and obstacles to overcome and at one point, the filmmakers find it wise to dust off the track "Walk the Dinosaur" and have the characters dance. Yet, running parallel to this is the 'real' movie: it involves Scrat the Squirrel in search of his nut, getting sidetracked temporarily by a female Scrat, falling in love, becoming disillusioned with domestication and then going back after the nut again.
