Bee Movie

Director: Steve Hickner and Simon J. Smith
Year Released: 2007
Rating: 2.0

Young college grad bee Barry (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld) goes 'in search of himself,' so he floats into the terrifying human world, befriends a florist and then sues the shit out of humanity for selling honey made with exploited labor. It's cute when it's in its little hive world (and everyone's related) and less cute when it starts dealing with insects having conversations with people and taking legal action against them (because, as everyone knows, the latter motion always follows the former action), a silly shift that relegates this to the kiddy bin of movies. I was hoping at the very beginning for a coded critique of capitalism, but that was wishful thinking on my part (naturally) - this is more or less content telling bug jokes I'm not even sure children will laugh at.
