Woman Is the Future of Man

Director: Hong Sang-Soo
Year Released: 2004
Rating: 1.5

This droll ditty has two miserable dopes, a filmmaker wannabe and a college teacher meeting up with an old gal pal to go over the past, drink the night away, have sex, bicker and bicker some more. If that sounds like a chore, that's because it more or less is - not only does this lack any panache whatsoever, the aforementioned three core figures desperately need a B12 shot and a kick in the ass (or are the Korean winters that lonely?). Hong's aesthetics - which includes a heavy reliance on master shots - don't exactly help the already thin story out.
